meet your host
Matt Savage fell in love with hockey when the Houston Aeros of the International Hockey League hosted a “Learn About Hockey” event before their inaugural roster was even finalized. Since the team was forced out of Houston, Matt’s gone through the stages of grief – and still vacillates between anger and acceptance.
Inspired by ongoing rumors of the NHL coming to Houston, Matt searched for local hockey discussion. Unable to find what he was looking for, he launched his own Houston-centric hockey podcast. He is not the least bit qualified to do so. Like, he played a few seasons of novice league – that’s it. But nobody else had started a Houston-centric hockey podcast, and he already bought the mic. So here we are.
Matt is a native of the Houston area. Oftentimes, you can find Matt at UH hockey games, HTX “Puck Drops Here” events, and – of course – Hockey Day in Houston. Mission Control is a reflection of how much Matt misses the Aeros.
Matt teaches American history in a Houston-area high school. If you’re one of his students, and you’re stalking him, you should probably concentrate on your studies. Actually, never mind. Learn about hockey instead.
